IDRC Journalism Award

Deadline: May 1, annually
Eligibility: This award is open to Canadian citizens or permanent residents who are employed by a daily newspaper, news agency, a radio or television station, or work as freelance journalists. Applicants must also have a minimum 3 years experience as a journalist.
Value: The opportunity to carry out a program of research under the guidance and sponsorship of the IDRC and the Gemini News Service in London, England. Justifiable field and research expenses up to a maximum of $40,000 CAD will be covered for the winning journalist. One award will be granted annually.

Description: Established in 1983, this award is given by IDRC to permit research by a Canadian journalist into issues related to international development, giving them the opportunity to become familiar with the concerns and priorities of the South.
