Housing Works is a healing community of people living with and affected by HIV/AIDS. Our mission is to end the dual crises of homelessness and AIDS through relentless advocacy, the provision of lifesaving services, and entrepreneurial businesses that sustain our efforts. Housing Works seeks a Communications Manager for our Marketing & Communication Department. Reporting to the Director for Public Relations, he/she will develop and execute a communications strategy that promotes advocacy messages by providing press releases, media outreach/follow-up, social media campaigning for events and tracking impressions and quality of coverage.

Job Responsibilities
Contributing to and monitor Advocacy's communication outlets including social media and online marketing (site traffic, newsletter subscribers) channels in an effort to build a community of activists, grow subscriber base; track with reporting;
Report, write and publish original posts, op-eds and action alerts on the Housing Works blog/weekly email newsletter, the AIDS Issues Update and encourage reposting of its content through external outlets;
Supervise, edit and proof other blog writing work provided by interns, freelancers and other HW staff;
Assist in communications and blogs for the Campaign to End AIDS (national grassroots network) and AIDSVote.org (electoral advocacy network);
Overseeing all online Advocacy content on HW site including developing new strategies to drive traffic and interest;
Fielding project requests from Advocacy team, project management, providing creative copy and assets, developing strategies with Director for Public Relations on Advocacy marketing materials that will effectively communicate Advocacy issues as needed;
Track and report on media impressions, press activity and the success of all events working with the Communications team;
Write community profiles in collaboration with Director of Public Relations for use in all Housing Works weekly newsletters and the scheduling of profiles by working with HW Marketing and Communications staff to plan for story angles and manage a schedule;
Produce compelling photo, video and written content to promote Housing Works services internally and externally;
Collaborate with the rest of the Communications team to implement a cohesive, integrated and results driven communications strategy that drives our Mission including healthcare and client services;
Support other select staff writing or corporate communication activities across different areas of the organization (i.e. housing, healthcare, internal) as needed and based on further direction;
Tasks may include writing, event support and other activities.

Qualifications/Requirements:
Understanding of and commitment to aggressive advocacy on HIV/AIDS and homelessness;
Familiarity with city, state, national and international Advocacy issues;
Ability to communicate using social media and knowledge; ability to build a fan base/audience on social media networks;
Ability to develop and implement a media strategy including press release writing, media relations, pitching, etc;
Top-level writing, editing, communications and packaging skills;
Ability to carry out culturally competent interviewing;
Comfort with photography and video tools and/or willingness to learn a plus.
