Mandate:  The ministry extends practical and financial assistance to farmers to improve their techniques, rehabilitate their land and upgrade their livestock and crops. It supports research and education at agricultural colleges, laboratories, research institutes and universities. The ministry conducts an extensive marketing program for Ontario farm products both domestically and internationally. The Foodland Ontario Program of the ministry aims to increase consumer consumption of Ontario fresh and processed food products. The Ministry has the mandate to encourage rural economic development.
