Don't let your wallet be a
holiday causality
- tips to keep the Spirit alive as well as your wallet
For Immediate Release
(November 24, 2003 ) - As the holiday season kicks into
high gear, take a moment to stop and make a plan. With a little
planning you can socialize, give gifts and even have a little fun
decorating without going broke. It's a sure way to keep the ho,
ho spirit into the New Year and say good bye to January bill payment
blues.
Here are a few quick tips to get you started:
Draw names. It's a great way to reduce costs and have the fun of
giving.
Give a gift of time. Make a coupon for babysitting, snow shovelling
or spring garden clean up.
Think potluck. It's a fun inexpensive way to entertain.
Look for low cost activities - skating, cross-country skiing, or
a video movie night.
Shorten your shopping trips. You'll be less tired and make better
decisions.
Dare to be different. Decorate your tree with your children's toys.
Avoid the crowds. Use the Internet for your shopping, no parking
hassles. Or, "let your fingers do the walking", phone
around and put items you want on hold.
Remember, focus on what's important to you! The season is really
about spending time with family and friends, not how much money
you spend. Think about why you are getting together and try something
new.
