A natural approach to parenting healthy kids
Toronto, December 9, 2003 - Parents can learn how to stimulate
their baby's learning capacity and development at Wonder Child,
a six-week course at The Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine.
Focussed on babies' physical, mental, emotional and spiritual well-being
during the first three years of life, Wonder Child runs from January
27 - March 2, 2004. The Wonder Child curriculum is designed and
taught by Lisa Murray-Doran, a naturopathic doctor, certified Doula
(professional birthing assistant) and mother of three home-birthed
sons. Participants are welcome to bring their young children.
Wonder Child Series I sessions:
January 27, 2004 Birth, Brain and Bonding
Learn the importance of your baby's earliest development and the
interplay of birth, brain and bonding.
February 3, 2004 Birth, the Newborn and the First 12 Weeks
Learn about your baby's transition to newborn life, your transition
to parenthood, needs of the baby, crying babies and nutrition for
you and your baby.
February 10, 2004 Three to Nine Months: Growing Down into the
Body
Learn about movement, body control, co-ordination, senses, nutrition,
sleep patterns, attachment parenting and going back to work.
February 17, 2004 Nine to Eighteen Months
Learn about your baby's learning to walk, brain development, toys,
hyper stimulation vs. appropriate environment and physical, emotional
and intellectual development.
February 24, 2004 Eighteen Months to Three Years: Your Growing
Toddler
This class will explore the development of memory, mastering language,
the emerging sense of self, gentle discipline and temper tantrums.
March 2, 2004 Healthy & Strong
Learn about the importance of imaginative play, rhythm, warmth,
mothering & fathering and nutrition for a healthy child.
Courses will be held Tuesday evenings at 1255 Sheppard Ave. East,
at Leslie subway station, between 7 - 9 p.m. The six-part series

years - and Series III - for children from five to nine years.
The Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine, established in 1978,
offers Canada's only accredited four-year, full time professional
program in naturopathic medicine. Graduates receive a Doctor of
Naturopathic Medicine (ND) diploma. The college is home to the Robert
Schad Naturopathic Clinic, where students train under the direction
of regulated naturopathic doctors, Interns use safe, non-invasive
therapies and gentle techniques.
