Abstract: The Great Turning refers to the monumental change we must make in our society. To change it from "empire"-material excess for the ruling classes, male domination and divisions of race and gender to a society that embraces a global culture based on partnership. To save our planet we must turn away from fear to active participation in life. Drawing on ecology, biology and indigenous cultures he submits that the lessons we learn from them can help us redefine the meanings of prosperity and security. As a species we have the power of choice and we can choose life- affirming cultural values.
