Canadian Authors Association Awards for Adult Literature

Deadline: December 15, annually
Eligibility: The Canadian Authors Association administers four awards for full-length English-language literature for adults by Canadian authors. Publication may have taken place outside of Canada. Reprints are not eligible. Translations are not eligible except in the case of novels where the original version is by a Canadian, in which case the year of publication of the translation would apply. Previous winners are not eligible in the category in which they won, but may be entered in the others.
Value: $2,500 and a silver medal.

Description: CAA MOSAID Technology, Inc. Award for Fiction is for a full-length novel. CAA Award for Poetry is for a volume of poetry by one poet. CAA Jubilee Award for Short Stories is for a collection of short stories by a single author. CAA Lela Common Award for Canadian History is for a work of historical non-fiction on a Canadian topic. Biographical works are not eligible.
Further Details: There is a fee of $35 per title entered. Entered titles must have been published in the year prior to the award year: for example, for the 2005 awards, in 2004. Five copies of the book or script are required. Awards are presented at a Literary Awards Banquet which concludes the CAA's annual conference in June each year. The banquet is preceded by a reading supported by the Canada Council for the Arts.
