Description: Bronwen Wallace Memorial Award-- Awarded to an author under 35 years of age who has not been previously published in book form. $1,000 prize. Sponsored by the Writers' Trust of Canada. Drainie-Taylor Biography Prize-- Awarded for outstanding biography, autobiography, or memoirs. $10,000 prize. Sponsored by the Drainie-Taylor family. Marian Engel Award-- Presented to a female writer for an outstanding body of work and continued contribution to the literary arts in Canada. $15,000 award. Sponsored by the Writers' Trust of Canada. Pearson Writers Trust Non-Fiction Prize-- Awarded for an outstanding work of non-fiction published in the previous year. $15,000 prize. Sponsored by Pearson Canada and the Writers' Trust of Canada. Rogers Writers Trust Fiction Prize-- Awarded for a work of fiction novel or collection of short stories published in the previous year. $15,000 prize. Sponsored by Rogers and the Writers' Trust of Canada. Thomas Raddal Atlantic Fiction Prize-- Awarded for a work of fiction published in the previous year by an author from Atlantic Canada. $5,000 prize. Sponsored by the Writers Federation of Nova Scotia and the Writers' Trust of Canada. W.O. Mitchell Literary Prize-- Awarded to an author for an outstanding body of work and for being a caring mentor to writers. Must have published a new work in the previous 3 years. Every third year, this award is presented to a French-Canadian author. $15,000 prize. Sponsored by the Writers' Trust of Canada. Writers' Trust of Canada's Shaughnessy Cohen Award for Political Writing-- Awarded for a non-fiction work contributing to the greater understanding of contemporary Canadian political and social issues. $10,000 prize. Sponsored by CTV and the Writers' Trust of Canada. The Writers' Trust of Canada's Timothy Findley Award -- Awarded to a Canadian male writer in recognition of a body of work comprised of no less than three works of literary merit which are predominantly fiction. No age restrictions apply. $15,000 prize. The Vicky Metcalf Award for Children's Literature -- Awarded to a Canadian writer of children's literature for a body of work. $15,000 prize. Sponsored by the George Cedric Metcalf Foundation. Matt Cohen Prize: In Celebration of a Writing Life -- Recognizes a lifetime of distinguished work by a Canadian writer working in either poetry or prose, either in French or in English. $20,000 prize. Generously sponsored by anonymous donors.
