Description: Danuta Gleed Literary Award-- Deadline is January 31, annually. Best first collection of short stories in English published in the previous calendar year. Winner receives $5,000, with two runner-up prizes of $500 each. Short Prose Competition for Developing Writers-- Deadline is November 3, annually. Awarded to encourage the discovery of developing writers. Fiction or non-fiction works of unpublished prose up to 2,500 words in English are judged. First prize is an award of $2,500. Postcard Story Competition-- Deadline is February 14 annually. This award is open to all writers for a work of text in any genre of up to 250 words in length. The prize is $500. Writing for Children Competition-- Deadline is April 23, annually. Awarded for the best fiction or non-fiction work in English written for children. The work can be up to 1,500 words in length, and must not have been previously published. Winning authors must not have a contract with a publisher. The prize is $1,500.
