Toronto Arts Awards


Deadline: Late spring for nominations

Eligibility: Recipients must be Canadian citizens, landed immigrants or long-term residents of Canada who have demonstrated an ongoing association with Toronto and who have contributed significantly to the arts and culture of Toronto. "Toronto" is defined as the greater metropolitan area.

Value: Each recipient receives a bronze medallion and the opportunity to purchase or commission a work created by a younger artist, as a personal memento of the recipient's Award. Arts Toronto will spend up to $2,500 per recipient to purchase each commemorative art work.

Description: Annual Awards are presented to six individuals, as well as the Lifetime Achievment Awards, in the following categories: Writing & Publishing, Media Arts, Architecture and Design, Music, Performing Arts, Visual Arts. In addition to the Annual Awards, one Lifetime Achievement Award is presented each year to an individual who has demonstrated ongoing contribution in or to one or more artistic disciplines over a period of many years. A second Lifetime Achievement Award, the William Kilbourn Award, is presented each year to an individual who has been a catalyst for the arts in Toronto.
