Bermuda National Gallery

Bermuda

The Bermuda National Gallery opened in 1992 with a core collection of historic European paintings, now known as The Watlington Collection, bequeathed to Bermuda by Hereward T. Watlington. The Gallery has since developed as the Island's arts museum and is an educational resource as well as an entertainment venue. Both loan exhibitions and special events reflect Bermuda's varied artistic heritage and multicultural community.
The Gallery has maintained a standard of excellence in its drive to advance and promote the arts in Bermuda. Each year the Gallery features three major temporary exhibitions as well as occasional smaller installations. Shows are created through loans from generous local collectors of historic and/or contemporary international art, through collaborations with other local art organisations or museums, through jointly curated shows with international museums or by bringing international travelling exhibitions to the island.
