Eligibility: Books of creative non-fiction published in previous year. Must be author's first or second published book. Author must be Canadian and work must have Canadian location or significance.

Description: Established by Edna Staebler to give recognition and encouragement to developing writers. The award is administered by Wilfrid Laurier University. Entries should be distinguished by first-hand research, well-crafted interpretive writing, and creative use of language or approach to subject matter.
