
CMA Canada and CIPFA announce final call for nominations for the 2011 Award of Excellence for Comptrollership in the Public Sector

OTTAWA, January 18, 2011 Certified Management Accountants of Canada (CMA Canada) and the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy (CIPFA) has announced a final call for nominations for the third annual Award of Excellence for Comptrollership in the Public Sector.
Nominations for this award may be submitted via e-mail to nominations@comptrollershipaward.com until the last day of the nomination period:
Friday, February 18, 2011. With the deadline quickly approaching, nominators are asked to submit their completed application form(s) as soon as possible.
The annual awards program celebrates innovative thinking and showcases tangible contributions to financial management and comptrollership within the Government of Canada. In its third year, the Award of Excellence for Comptrollership in the Public Sector includes awards for Innovation and Financial Leadership (CFO). Consideration forms are also being accepted for the CMA-CIPFA Lifetime Achievement Award, which is awarded at the discretion of the selection committee.
The 2011 selection committee is composed of distinguished senior public servants and industry experts. It consists of:
Ken Campbell - President, Financial Management Institute of Canada, Capital Chapter (Ottawa/Gatineau)
Richard Dicerni - Deputy Minister, Industry Canada
Linda Lizotte-MacPherson - Commissioner and Chief Executive Officer, Canada Revenue Agency
Richard Monk - President and CEO, msight global inc.
James Ralston - Comptroller General of Canada
Joy Thomas - President and CEO, CMA Canada
Michael Tinkler - Senior Manager, Raymond Chabot Grant Thornton
This years award recipients will be announced at special ceremony to be held on Tuesday, May 10, 2011, at the Fairmont Château Laurier in Ottawa. They will receive national recognition of their achievements and their innovations will serve as a model for how other public sector entities and individuals can enhance their financial management performance, and meet accountability objectives to the highest possible standards.
A limited number of tickets will be available for the reception, dinner and award ceremony. Online registration will be made available in March.
