CCNM Hosts Holistic Mental Health Conference: Pathways to EmpowermentJune 18, 2012TORONTO, June 18, 2012 - The Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine, in partnership with Canadian Mental Health Association Toronto, the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health, Across Boundaries, Community Resource Connection of Toronto and Just Ideas is pleased to present and host the inaugural Holistic Mental Health Conference: Pathways to Empowerment.The conference takes place on Thursday, June 21 and Friday, June 22 from 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. at the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine. Keynote speakers for each day will be: Martin A. Katzman, MD, FRCP(C): Dr. Katzman is the clinic director and staff psychiatrist at START (Stress, Trauma, Anxiety Rehabilitation and Treatment) Clinic for Mood and Anxiety Disorders, a faculty member at the Northern Ontario School of Medicine (Laurentian University and Lakehead University), and the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Toronto. His research studies examine the psychobiological and cognitive processes in mood and anxiety disorders. Jonathan E. Prousky, ND, M.Sc.: Prousky is the Chief Naturopathic Medical Officer at the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine and supervises at the Robert Schad Naturopathic Clinic. He is a passionate advocate for patients with psychiatric disorders and focuses his clinical practice on optimizing mental and neurological health with nutrition and botanical (plant-based) medicines. In addition attendees will take part in workshops that will provide information about alternative holistic, evidence-based approaches that address physical, emotional, social and spiritual facets of recovery for people with mental health issues. Educational vendors and naturopathic clinic interns, and the CCNM Funny Bones clown troupe will be on hand.
