ClimateFast returns to Parliament Hill, Sept. 21 – Oct. 2, 2013

September 12, 2013

ClimateFast held a successful campaign on Parliament Hill in the Fall of 2012, to raise awareness and promote action by our politicians on the climate crisis. We have already seen 400 parts per million COâ‚‚ in our atmosphere and the level is increasing. Catastrophic weather events are occurring with alarming frequency around the world, and 2012 was one of the worst years on record!

Together we can and must do more! If we want to leave a healthy planet for our children and all life on earth, we must plan the transition to a renewable energy economy now! ClimateFast will hold a national Fast on Parliament Hill, starting with an Opening Vigil Sept. 21st (International Day of Peace). Canadians are invited to fast with us, (either food fast or carbon fast) for one or more days, until October 2 (Gandhi’s Birthday). Our aim is to call for the Canadian Government to take action NOW to do its part to mitigate the climate change crisis. Citizens and MP’s are asked to take our pledge to work to this end.

It is for our collective benefit now and in the future, to change our government’s climate and energy policies to reach these goals:

• End fossil fuel subsidies
• Put a price on carbon
• Support the development of a renewable energy plan for Canada

Join us this year and be part of building a Canadian solution to the climate crisis.
