Big Names Fight For A Big Cause at Upcoming Breast Cancer Research Fundraiser

April 23, 2010

Attendees include world-famous boxers, entertainment personalities and reputable businesses as Dewith’s Boxing Studio joins forces with the Breast Cancer Society of Canada for a gala event

Toronto, Ontario April 21st, 2010 – Celebrities across a variety of platforms will gather one and all at the upcoming Fight for the Girls event held at the Toronto Fairmont Royal York Hotel on May 26th, 2010.

With some of their lives personally affected by breast cancer and others making a gracious appearance to support the cause, a host of stars will join the evening made possible by Dewith’s Boxing Studio, in an effort to raise money for breast cancer research.

“This event puts a new twist on fundraising for breast cancer and I’m thrilled that I get to be a part of it,” says George Chuvalo, Canada’s Heavyweight Boxing Champion 20 years running. “With a number of different bouts scheduled to take place throughout the night, this is guaranteed to be an entertaining event,” finishes Chuvalo, who also had the opportunity to fight against Muhammad Ali twice throughout the course of his career.

Among the special guests joining Chuvalo on May 26th are:

• Lisa Brown: Current Women’s WBC World Featherweight Champion.
• Spider Jones: Award-winning journalist, 3-time Golden Glove Champion, Canadian Boxing Hall of Fame inductee, entertainer and radio host.
• Mark Simmons: Commonwealth Games Canadian gold medalist, and Olympian boxer.
• Joe Tilley: CTV Sports Host and recognized TV personality

“We aim to make this event one to be remembered,” Dewith Frazer says, owner of Dewith’s Boxing Studio and previous Olympic boxer himself. “We’ve put a lot of time and effort into the organization and planning in order to host an evening that is packed with entertainment, creative donation opportunities, and loads of media attention for our valued sponsors.”

The largest sponsor of Fight For The Girls is RBC, who will also attract a large group of highly acclaimed business people from Toronto and surrounding areas – setting the stage for enormous networking opportunities for interested corporate sponsors. William Vastis, owner and director of the William Vastis Wealth Management Group of RBC Dominion, is one of Fight For The Girls’ biggest supporters with a goal to reach $10,000 in fundraising, and a dedicated ring where he’ll be fighting the night of the event.

Multiple media outlets are confirmed to swarm this event, televising the boxing bouts and giving sponsors a real bang for their buck with ample television exposure. City TV, Breakfast Television, CTV and TSN are all scheduled to attend. Adding to the night’s exciting lineup is Baby Boyz Crew from Brampton, a hip hop group who will perform live.

“It’s somewhat of a sad affair, given the fact that two of our fighters at the event have lost their mothers to breast cancer. At the same time we’re happy that we’re doing our part to help the Breast Cancer Society of Canada put their research dollars into finding a cure for today’s sufferers,” Frazer explains.

As of today, Fight For The Girls is just over 50% sold and is actively seeking interested sponsors to fill the event. With big name attendees, a strong media presence, and great marketing exposure, this event will prove beneficial for any sponsor – not to mention the fact that you’ll be contributing to a great cause.

22,700 Canadian women are infected with breast cancer each year. Although death rates in every age group have declined steadily since 1990, there is still a long way to go and every dollar raised goes a long way. On May 26th, Dewith’s Boxing Studio, a well-known boxing studio in Mississauga, along with the Breast Cancer Society of Canada, will host Fight For The Girls dinner and gala, at the Fairmont Royal York Hotel in Toronto beginning at 6:00pm.
