Harper government should stop excusing Israeli crimes -- Independent Jewish Voices

June 3, 2010

“Israeli armed forces have killed international humanitarian aid activists participating in the Gaza Freedom Flotilla on the high seas, yet the Harper government continues to provide Israel with unconditional support,” says Larry Haiven, spokesperson for Independent Jewish Voices Canada (IJV). “This is outrageous.”

“Instead of supporting such criminal activity, the Canadian government should immediately demand that Israel end the siege and blockade of Gaza,” he explained. “Furthermore, the Canadian government should immediately end its own sanctions against Gaza, which are only contributing to a deepening humanitarian crisis for the civilian population there.”

“The IJV urges Canadian individuals and organizations to actively support the growing non-violent international Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions campaign until Israel complies with international laws and respects Palestinians' human rights,” Haiven concluded.

Independent Jewish Voices – Canada is a national organization that promotes a just resolution to the conflict in Israel and Palestine through the application of international law and respect for the human rights of all parties. IJV has chapters in Halifax, Montreal, Ottawa, Toronto, Hamilton, Winnipeg, Saskatoon and Vancouver.
