Year Published:  1997
In this documentary, Chilean filmmaker Patricio Guzman returns to his home country for the first time in 23 years to screen his earlier documentary, Battle of Chile, to a generation of young Chileans who have grown up without any knowledge of the facts surrounding the military coup of September 11, 1973.

The Battle of Chile is a three-part cinéma vérité chronicle that was largely banned in Chile, until Guzman begins sharing it with small groups of friends and students. In Chile, Obstinate Memory, Guzman's audience reflects on their experience watching his film and the shocking history that they had not previously known.
