Atkinson Fellowship in Public Policy


Deadline: January, annually.

Eligibility: Canadian citizens or landed immigrants. Full-time practicing print, broadcast or online journalists.Seasoned professionals who have achieved distinction in reporting on public policy issues.

Value: $75,000 stipend and up to $25,000 for research expenses.

Description: The Atkinson Fellowship in Public Policy, established in 1988, is an award designed to further the tradition of liberal journalism and commitment to social and economic justice fostered by Joseph E. Atkinson, former publisher of The Toronto Star. Fellows are supported for a period of one year to investigate a current policy issue and write a series of articles for publication in the Toronto Star.
