TSN Horizons Project


Deadline: Candidates are required to submit an application package by March 31, 2002.

Eligibility: To be eligible to participate in the TSN Horizons Project, candidates must demonstrate an interest in sports journalism and sports media and have less than five years work experience.

Value: The project will give two candidates an opportunity to hone their journalism skills by working with experienced mentors. Candidates and mentors will be partnered based on areas of interest (print, broadcast, photo or on-line journalism) and the mentor's availability.

Description: Two candidates will be selected to participate in the program. The selection will be based on the quality and content of the candidate's application package. One of these two candidates will be selected to travel to Toronto, win the bursary and spend a four-day placement at a local media outlet. TSN and Sports Media Canada (SMC) introduced the TSN Horizons Project, a national sports journalism mentorship initiative, in January 2001.

Further Details: The application package can be sent via e-mail, or mailed. Applicants must submit an application package which includes: Name, address, telephone number, e-mail address; Resume; Work portfolio (3-5 examples of work that was published or broadcast); A proposal (500 words max.) of the project to be developed with a mentor.
