Canadian Literary Awards


Deadline: Submission period for Short Stories is open from September 1, 2014 to November 1, 2014 Submission period for Creative Nonfiction Prize will be open on January 1, 2015. Submission period for Poetry will be open on April 1, 2015.

Eligibility: All Canadian citizens and permanent residents of Canada can participate. For Short Stories submit your original, unpublished stories between 1200 and 1500 words. For Creative Nonfiction submit your original, unpublished work between 1200 and 1500 words. For Poetry the entry must be between 400 and 600 words.

Value: $6,000 grand prize and $1,000 for the four runners-up courtesy of the Canada Council for the Arts, publication in Air Canada's enRoute magazine and on CBCBooks.ca, and a 10-day writing residency at the Banff Centre, will be awarded in each of three categories.

Description: The CBC Literary Prizes recognize the best original, unpublished writing by Canadians in poetry, short story & creative nonfiction. The Prizes are presented in partnership with Canada Council for the Arts, enRoute magazine and the Banff Centre.
