News Release Kingston Symphony Association March 26, 2008-- For Immediate Release
Featured this year are eight residences which have been graciously
offered by their owners for the tour. These include a charming west
end family home featuring a tapestry of rich colours melded with
noteworthy antiques; a wonderful limestone carriage house, preserved
and updated; two homes offering sweeping views of Lake Ontario and
a distinctive home set in the co-operative neighbourhood of Grenville
Park. A 1920 vintage home, a remodeled Alwington Place residence
and a new Trailhead Place bungalow complete this years selection
of private homes. In addition we are excited to offer a mini tour
of the refurbished Grand Theatre, home of the Kingston Symphony.
. A light lunch is provided from 11:30a.m.to 1:30p.m.at a choice of one of three local churches. One is a picturesque church, St. John's Anglican, built in 1849-1850, Chalmers United, a beautiful limestone church built in 1890 and Our Lady of Lourdes Church has a more recent history, having been built in 1970 and on its 25th anniversary, added a new Parish Hall. Passbooks, which include lunch, cost $30.00. They feature sketches of the houses and churches by the well known artist Shirley Hulley.
