Engineering technology association
celebrates 50 years of certification at Annual General Meeting

Toronto - (Tuesday, May 29, 2007) - The Ontario Association
of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists (OACETT)
will celebrate the 50th anniversary of certification during the
association's annual general meeting weekend.
Media are invited to attend the weekend events.
Date: Thursday, May 31 to Saturday, June 2
Location: The Metropolitan Hotel, 108 Chestnut St., Toronto
Highlights of the weekend include a 50th-anniversary celebration
at Fort York on Thursday evening (7 p.m.) and the introduction of
a new President and Council on Friday morning.
On Friday, June 1, Ontario's finance minister, the Honourable Greg
Sorbara, will be the keynote speaker at the noon luncheon following
the Council meeting.
Friday evening, at a gala dinner and awards ceremony (7 p.m.),
OACETT will recognize engineering and applied science technologists
and technicians for their contributions to the profession and society.
Also honoured are outstanding educators in technology and outstanding
technical achievement by companies.
OACETT is the professional association that certifies engineering/applied
science technicians and technologists in Ontario. OACETT has more
than 23,000 members in Ontario. Members include certified technicians
(C.Tech.); certified engineering technologists (C.E.T.); and applied
science technologists (A.Sc.T.)
A self-governing professional association, OACETT functions under
the OACETT Act for the purposes of protecting public safety, governing
its members and providing member benefits and services.
