Media Release - IFIC’s President and CEO to Chair Second Annual Canadian Funds Summit

Toronto, ON - May 5, 2016 - The Investment Funds Institute of Canada (IFIC) announced today that its president and CEO, Joanne De Laurentiis, will chair the second annual Canadian Funds Summit in Toronto on May 10-11, 2016.

“I’m pleased to chair the Canadian Funds Summit at such a pivotal time for the industry,” said De Laurentiis. “The timing of this year’s Summit provides a valuable opportunity for industry professionals to discuss a wide range of ongoing and emerging issues, regulatory proposals and advances in technology.”

This year’s Summit is set to tackle key issues affecting products, sales, and distribution, including regulatory changes, market volatility and new technologies. Speakers will address these topics in addition to the issues surrounding the final phase of CRM2 implementation.

Featured Summit speakers include several members of IFIC’s board of directors, including Rick Headrick (president, Sun Life Global Investments), Bernard Letendre, (president, Manulife Investments), and Carol Lynde (president and COO, Bridgehouse Asset Managers), as well as Ralf Hensel, IFIC’s general counsel, corporate secretary and director of policy. Regulatory updates will be provided by representatives from the OSC, MFDA and IIROC.

De Laurentiis will formally kick off the Summit at 8:15 a.m. Tuesday, May 10 with introductory remarks about the industry’s growth and innovation over the past two decades and its resilience in the face of regulatory change and technology.
