Special Exhibit of The Quilt of Belonging
A Collaborative Textile Art Project of the Human Family
June 10 to June 11, 2023, Williamstown, ON

May 29, 2023

May 29, 2023. The monumental artwork, the Quilt of Belonging, is Canada’s most comprehensive, collaborative textile art project. It has been seen by over 3 million people across Canada, throughout the Arctic Circle and as far away as Malaysia.

A massive 120 feet (36 m) in length, the Quilt of Belonging will be on display at its original home base in the historic town of Williamstown, Ontario, June 10 and 11, 2023. Over 700 volunteers participated in realizing its 263 textile blocks that portray the rich cultural legacies of the First Peoples in Canada and peoples from every nation of the world at the dawn of the new millennium.

The exhibit will also commemorate its founder and creative genius, Esther Bryan who sadly passed away in July 2022. A richly hued portrait of the human family, Esther Bryan's mission through the Quilt of Belonging was to recognize Canada’s diversity, celebrate our common humanity and promote harmony and compassion among people.

The Board of the Quilt of Belonging and the community of Williamstown, invite the public to a special exhibit of the Quilt of Belonging in all its glory on June 10 and 11, 2023 from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm at the Williamstown Fair Grounds, Williamstown, Ontario.

There is no admission charge. Donations are welcome to help defray the cost of the event. (charitable tax receipts will be available).
