WWF--Canada was established as part of the global WWF network in 1967 and currently has offices in Toronto, Ottawa, Yellowknife, Edmonton, Vancouver, Prince Rupert and Halifax. Our mission is to stop the degradation of the planet's natural environment and to build a future in which humans live in harmony with nature by:
· Conserving the world's biological diversity;
· Ensuring that the use of renewable natural resources is sustainable; and
· Promoting the reduction of pollution and wasteful consumption
Our conservation programs focus on climate change, the marine environment, forests and freshwater, the Mackenzie Valley, the Greater Antilles (Cuba) and endangered species. WWF--Canada employs a range of tools to achieve its conservation results. These include field research, scientific mapping, policy initiatives, market solutions and public education. WWF--Canada works closely with local communities and others who share the common goal of protecting the natural world.
