United Food and Commercial Workers Union
The UFCW is North America's largest private-sector union, representing more than 1.4 million members. In Canada there are more than 205,000 members in all provinces.
Members of the UFCW work in the retail food, meat packing, brewing, soft drink, and food-processing industries. They can also be found in shoe and garment plants, banks and credit unions, restaurants, hotels, nursing homes and hospitals, department stores, and security agencies. The UFCW maintains some 1,600 collective agreements with major employers such as: Superstores, Safeway, Overwaitea, Westfair, Loblaws, A&P, Steinberg, Provigo, Métro-Richelieu, IGA, Loeb's, Cavendish, Maple Lodge Farms, Cargill, Maple Leaf Foods, Robin Hood, Heinz, Nestlé, Ault, Primo, McCain's, Shoppers Drug Mart, PharmaPlus, Jean Coutu, Levi-Strauss, Bata, Hartt, Labatt, Molson, Brewers Warehousing, Seagram, Schenley, Palliser, Carrington, Alberta Distillers, Coca-Cola, Pepsi, Hostess, The Bay, Zellers, St-Hubert, Swiss Chalet, and Pizza-Pizza.
