"MARATHON MAN A REAL SURVIVOR" -- Toronto Sun.
Bill's inspiring story -- overcoming the odds and embracing life through his action plan to conquer fear and achieve our goals...
25 years ago Bill had quadruple heart bypass surgery when at first he was considered inoperable. Bill has since lost 60 pounds, run eight marathons (26.2 miles/42.2 km), including the prestigious Boston Marathon, and has competed in triathlons (swimming, cycling, running) and cross country skiing events.
In 1995 Bill overcame encephalitis: "mortality is high (about 70%)."
In 2001 he ran the Canadian International Half Marathon (13.1 miles/21.1 km) and the Indoor Ironman Triathlon challenge.
In 2002 he celebrated his 25th year anniversary at the Fitness Institute by completing his own Indoor Pentathlon (rowing, running, boxing, cycling, swimming) in 3 hours and 25 minutes. Three months later he ran the Canadian International Half Marathon.
Bill's message is: "We all have more courage, strength, and power than we give ourselves credit for."
