Canadian Medical Association
The national voluntary professional association for physicians. The CMA exists to provide leadership for physicians and to promote the highest standard of health and health care for Canadians. A federation of 12 provincial and territorial medical associations representing the majority of Canada's physicians. Serves as the national representative and collective public voice of physicians to the federal government. Responsible for the establishment of the CMA Code of Ethics, as well as medical and health care policy. Publishes the CMA Journal, the Journal of Surgery, CMA News and conducts numerous information and educational programs. On behalf of its members, operates a retirement savings plan, insurance and investment programs and generally promotes the interests of the medical profession.
