An independent and non-partisan agency of Parliament, Elections Canada administers federal electoral events. Main activities include: operational planning for electoral events; maintaining the National Register of Electors; producing electoral maps; registering political parties, third parties and referendum committees; overseeing campaign financing of candidates, parties, third parties and referendum committees; training election officials; acquiring election supplies; examining and disclosing financial returns; publishing election returns; publishing election results; assigning political broadcasting time; undertaking investigations; assisting international missions; informing the electorate; and supporting independent commissions in readjusting boundaries of electoral districts.
