Tribute to EFJ co-founder Antonio Velluto

The European Federation of Journalists (EFJ) has today paid tribute to its co-founder, Mr. Antonio Velluto, who has passed away on Tuesday, 24 June, in Milan at the age of 81.
During the EFJ Steering Committee meeting in Rome today, members has observed a minute of silence in memory of Mr. Velluto.
''We are sad for the loss of Antonio, who was a dear friend and has been an important part of the EFJ history contributing to its todays existence.'' said Mogens Blicher Bjerregard, the EFJ President, ''We would like to send our condolences to the friends and families of Antonio.''
Mr. Velluto was a member of the International Federation of Journalists Executive Committee and one of the co-founders of the EFJ. He used to work as a journalist for the Italian public broadcaster, RAI. As a dedicated unionist, Mr Velluto was also member of the Executive Committee of the Italian Union of journalists (FNSI).
''We will miss Antonio, who has always been at the forefront of the battle to defend the rights of journalists,'' added  Blicher Bjerregard.
