News Release New Ethnic Press Service from Sources Responds to Canada's Demographic Trends October 2002
"There are almost 1.2 million people more in Canada today,
according to the most recent Census, and this growth is being powered
by newcomers to Canada," says Sources publisher Ulli
Diemer. "These people are the Canadian citizens and consumers
of the future, and the media that serves them is important to us
and to our clients." "We plan to monitor an initial selection of fifty ethnic publications.
These include both the Toronto editions of the three Chinese daily
papers and the Toronto papers in the Italian, and Spanish speaking
communities - a total of six dailies. Also to be monitored are Portuguese
and South Asian publications in English, Hindi, Punjabi and Urdu
- some forty weeklies and monthlies. The combined circulation of
these publications is close to 750,000 issues. We will include additional
languages and media based on client demand." According to Andrew Machalski, the service's Production Manager,
who has more than ten years experience in monitoring the Canadian
ethnic media, timely descriptions of articles in other languages
will be available online in English summary translation. From these
online descriptions, clients can order clips, full translations
and longer executive summaries. A complete list of publications
with basic statistics is available on request. Sources also offers media lists in a variety of formats (see www.sources.com/maillist.htm) or contact: Sources Sources |
