The IAM is a trade union representing some 50,000 Canadian workers in air transport and a wide range of manufacturing including aircraft, autoparts, aerospace, autobuses, electronics, light and heavy machinery, tools and appliances.
The IAM also represents office, technical and other white collar workers. The total North American membership of the IAM is 650,000.

L'AIM est un syndicat qui représente environ 50 000 travailleurs canadiens dans le transport aérien ainsi que dans les secteurs manufacturier incluant l'avionnerie, pièces pour automobiles, aérospatiale, autobus, électroniques, machinerie légère et lourde, outils et appareils ménagers.
L'AIM représente aussi des employés de bureau, techniques ainsi que des travailleurs collets blancs. Le nombre total de l'AIM en Amérique du Nord est de 650 000 membres.
