IFIC Congratulates New Superintendent of Financial Institutions

June 20, 2014

Toronto, ON – June 20, 2014 – The Investment Funds Institute of Canada (IFIC) issued a statement today congratulating Jeremy Rudin on his appointment as Canada’s new superintendent of financial institutions.

“We have had the opportunity to consult with Jeremy on a range of public policy issues over the years,” noted IFIC’s president and CEO Joanne De Laurentiis. “He is an exemplary public servant. He has a great grasp of the issues and is always ready to listen with an open mind.”

“Jeremy deserves recognition for his ability to bring parties together to collaborate – an essential aspect of effective public policy development,” she added. “We appreciate his thoughtful consideration of the industry’s views, and we wish him well as he assumes the leadership role at OSFI.”

IFIC and its members work with public policymakers to ensure that policy and regulatory decisions are taken with full knowledge of their potential impact on investors and investment funds providers, and with a view to creating a level playing field across financial products and services. As of May 2014, Canadians have accumulated savings of $1.08 trillion in mutual funds.
