
Media Release - IFIC Welcomes New Member and New Directors

Toronto, ON - April 27, 2017 - The Investment Funds Institute of Canada (IFIC) has announced that the board of directors approved the application of CF2G Investissement Inc. to become a member of IFIC at its April meeting. The board also approved mid-term appointments of two directors Glen Gowland, senior vice president & head, asset management, Scotiabank, and Damon Murchison, senior vice president and head of retail distribution, Mackenzie Financial.
Based in Montreal, CF2G Investissement Inc. is registered as a mutual fund dealer in Quebec. The firm is part of CF2G Group, which operates two other entities offering respectively life and health insurance and financial planning for entrepreneurs and small and medium-sized businesses.
We look forward to the input of CF2G Investissement Inc. as the industry works together to empower investors to make sound financial decisions and as we promote a strong and stable investment sector, said Paul C. Bourque, IFICs president and CEO.
Commenting on Damon Murchisons and Glen Gowlands appointments to the board, Bourque noted that, the industry is responding to transformative regulatory proposals, technology developments and demographic changes. We look forward to having Glen and Damon continue their companies exceptional leadership in promoting the interests of investors and the broader industry through IFIC.
Damon Murchison joins the IFIC board for the first time. Glen Gowland served previously on IFICs board, including one term as board chair.
